WHAT WE DO...

Broadly stated, the main goals of the CRA include:

bullet Preserving the Russian spiritual and cultural heritage in the U.S.

bullet Protecting the rights of Russian-Americans and encouraging their active participation in public and cultural affairs of the U.S.

bullet Aiding persecuted Christians and human rights activists within the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union.

bullet Fighting post-Cold War Russophobia and restoring friendly relations between the American and the Russian people.

bullet Helping the Russian people in their spiritual rebirth that will lead to the revival of their economy based on private ownership of land, private enterprise, and free competition.

To achieve its objectives, the CRA

bullet Maintains a working relationship with local, state, and federal authorities and presents to them the views of its membership and the Russian-American community at large.

bullet Helps Russian-Americans to actively participate in the life of the U.S.

bullet Communicates the Russian-American views to the government and public of the Russian Federation, as appropriate.

bullet Supports an office in Washington, D.C. for maintaining a liaison with the Government and other organizations.

bullet Works with other Russian-American organizations in areas of interest.

bullet Honors outstanding Russian-Americans in the Russian-American Hall of Fame.

bullet Cooperates with other U.S. ethnic organizations in a variety of areas.

bullet Conducts humanitarian aid and technical assistance programs for Russia.

bullet Commemorates "The Memorial Day for Victims of Communism" each November 7 (the date of Communist takeover in 1917).

bullet Produces and disseminates periodic and special publications for communicating with its members, friends, general public, as well as Government officials.

Most of the CRA activities are performed by its members and friends on a voluntary basis without pay. Except for the Washington Office staff and part-time clerical help at the CRA Headquarters in San Francisco, there are no paid workers. The bulk of the CRA's funds come from membership dues, voluntary donations, and miscellaneous fund-raising activities
