CRA invited to speak at Association of American Russian Women in Washington DC

A “Round Table of Women of the 21st Century” was held on September 24, 2011 at the Russian Culture Center in Washington DC. The conference was organized by the Association of American Russian Women – President, Larisa Petrenko and Vice-President, Elizaveta Filatova and invited representatives from different organizations and professions from various states to speak on topics of culture, education, business, health, immigration and legal issued. President of Congress of Russian Americans, Natalie Sabelnik was invited to address the women and speak about the role of the woman in preserving the language and culture in the home and community. A reception, hosted by the Russian Culture Center and Representative of RossSotrudnichestvo in Washington DC, Yuryi A. Zaytsev, and a musical program of Russian romances by Rachmaninoff, Rimsky-Korsakov & Tchaikowsky were performed by opera singer, Olga Orlovsky, laureate of numerous international singing competitions, followed the conference. Ms.Sabelnik introduced the new CRA Washington DC representative, John Stepanchuk to Mr. Zaytsev and various organization leaders, as well as former CRA Washington DC rep., Ludmila Foster, who gratiously agreed to advise Mr. Stepanchuk should he have any questions regarding CRA activities. The next day, the women attended liturgy at the St.John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, where a special service was performed by Father Victor Potapov, rector of the church and Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk, representative of the Patriarchal church in the US, A luncheon, prepared by Matushka Maria Potapova and sisterhood, followed where both Archbishop Justinian and Father Victor blessed the women and wished the organization success in their work.
